Some Lemsip products contain decongestants which work by constricting the blood vessels; this action may worsen raised blood pressure/hypertension. Therefore Lemsip with Decongestant should not be taken by people with a history of raised blood pressure/hypertension. Check individual packs for any cautionary statements.
Lemsip with Decongestant products only should be avoided by people with a history of coronary artery disease, cardiac failure, or any other heart problem.

People with asthma should discuss the use of Lemsip with their doctor prior to using any of the products.
Lemsip with Decongestant should be avoided by people with a history of an overactive thyroid/hyperthyroidism as the active decongestants in the products may worsen symptoms. This is not the case for underactive thyroid/hypothyroidism sufferers.
Non-Decongestant products are safe to use.
Some products are not suitable for pregnancy or breast feeding. Discuss with pharmacist and doctor what's best for you.
Lemsip sachets do contain sugar however Lemsip capsules are sugar free. Check the back of pack or speak to pharmacist or doctor.
Some Lemsip products do contain Lactose. See individual packs which outline if they contain Lactose.
Lemsip packaging includes directions for hot water only due to potential risk of scalding when using boiling water to mix with the contents of the sachets. This is because Lemsip sachet contents are effervescent and the volume of water may increase rapidly, leading to possible spillage of the product. Efficacy is not altered by adding boiling water to the sachet's contents.
Lemsip should only be prepared as per the instructions; preparation with cold water may result in abnormal mixing of ingredients and is not recommended.
There are no specific known reactions between Lemsip and prescribed antibiotics.
Lemsip with Decongestant is not suitable for patients taking antidepressants. Discuss with doctor before use.
You should leave at least 4 hours between doses of Lemsip. See individual packs for dosage instructions
Lemsip is only recommended for Adults & Children over the age of 12 years old. Do not give to children under 12 years.
Adults: Do not use for more than a few days unless advised by a doctor Adolescents & Children over 12 years: Do not use for more than 48 hours, unless advised by a doctor.
If you’re concerned you’ve taken an overdose of Lemsip you should ring the poisons centre on 13 11 26, or go to a hospital straight away even if you feel well because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage from paracetamol or immediately contact a doctor or healthcare professional.
